One of the DVD’s I rented skipped , it was no trouble at all when I went in they replaced it and credited me the DVD – exceptional service .
Always have very friendly service , staff know their product . Seem to care for their customers . Very helpful .
Exeter
My local stores a bit of a mess and smells like a musty damp cave. Staff like to pass comment on my taste in film. I’m more than happy for them to recomend films but to mack me?? Signed up to love film now so I never have to go in there ever ever again.
newton abbot i went into the store on saturday it was very busy early evening found the staff very helpful and the staff went out of there way to help me will definaley be visiting that store again
i cannot speak highly enough of the blockbuster’s branch in Selsdon High Street, I went in a couple of weeks ago and asked for a recommendation based on my interests etc, and I was pleasantly surprised when the assistant went out of their way to help find me a film taylor made to my liking, I have visited the shop frequently since, and dealt with many other assistants, all of whom have been indescribably helpful, charming, witty people, I can honestly say it is a pleasure to visit this shop.
Exeter – heavitree
Staff always very helpful and pleasant . Willing to give advice , listen to the films you prefer and then help select one you may like . All the team are friendly , rented films here for many years and have never had any problems at all.
Bournemouth Castlelane branch – utter shambles. Cut my card up over a year ago. Now use Flicks.
to Will Spilsbury, do your reasearch, blockbuster are usually the best for instore prices.
Impressed with staff and how they treat customers, will go out of their way to help you. Also while waiting to be served, have witnessed many customers being rude and malicious to the staff working. Yet the staff always responds in a calm manner trying to solve the dispute.
Blockbuster (Southampton). Queues often long at peak times, could do more to make sure staff are serving customers promptly. Seem to have a very limited range of DVD’s these days, so unless you are after latest releases, not much point going in. I dislike the pricing model, where you need to rent more than one item to get them for a good price, so, older releases can now be more expensive to rent than to buy second hand on ebay.
Telford. Did not have the film i wanted
sunderland @roker retail park

helpful staff with honest review of dvds
helped me find a game for my son
Maesteg, South Wales. I have been a member at this store since 1993, staff are friendly, happy, knowledgable and give you the time of day. The manageress even drove to another Blockbuster store last christmas to get me an x box as they were out of stock at the time. Can’t think of any other shop that does that!
Paignton Sally and jason give great service its more like family nothing is to much trouble if they havent got a item then they will do there best to get it, The store is always clean and tidy and shevles are full, Sally as just gone off sick and the tram continue to give excellent customer service its a credit to Blockbuster pity they are not all the same.
I was in blockbuster Selsdon when the lady had the vouchers from the sweet packets and to be truefull the staff were excelent they was so calm and helpfull and explained fully to the customer what she was meant to do. But to my horror the customer in question was very rude and abrupt and swore at the staff and stormed out of the shop. The staff there are excelent and they are really helpfull i would give them ten out of ten.
always greeted with a friendly hello and helped with where to find things etc. will go the extra mile for you. shop every week in swindon
The Blockbuster in Catford in South East London.
Me and my family have been going to the Blockbuster in Catford on and off for a number of years and even though the staff may change the friendly atmosphere, friendly staff members and good range of products remains excellent. To us the staff are like family, having watched me and my younger sister grow up. Not once have we had a bad experience with Blockbuster. The staff do as much as they can for us and every customer.
Purchasing a DVD, selsdon store December.
Staff were most helpful, not used to that in this climate, most shop assistants do not give customers the time of day.
Chester-le-Street
I’ve always experienced lovely customer service from staff at this store. Very friendly and helpful without being over the top about the films. Overall great service.
I went in blockbuster in Selsdon with the top of some sweet packets which I thought I could exchange for a free rental. The man behind the counter sneered at me saying ‘clearly you didn’t read the packet love’ because I was apparently supposed to go online and download the voucher. He then laughed at me.
He was so rude I have not been in there again. Ridiculous as if he had been nice I would have started popping in regularly for films after work.
I went into the Fareham branch recently and found it to be a cold soul less environment where the teenage staff were more interested in getting “bladdered” after work, fiddling with their mobiles. The shelves were half empty. Overall a very depressing experience.
staff in clapham are always polite and friendly, only downside is many of their films except the new releases are very dated and no wear near worth their rental price where i can buy the film outright on ebay or play.com 4 the same price. I dont see them lasting very long, alo their snacks are very expensive.
The staff in the blockbuster store in Widnes, cheshire, are very rude, unwilling to help and would rather talk to each other than to serve me!!!
I went into the Slough branch and picked out a boxed set. I asked when it had been released and was told three weeks. I took it home and I’d seen it last year.
I returned it and they gave me my money back, hence the two stars.
Kingsthorpe, Northampton
Always plenty of staff, they love films, and can recommend based on your purchase choice at the till. They know their stuff and treat you like a customer should be treated
The store in greenwich is really good, staff are always friendly and helpful.
Brilliant company with even amazing customer service. Staff (in 1 particular shop anyway)do know what they are talking about, they’re polite, well informed and have good customer care skills . If I could give them 6 stars I would.
Good service with a smile
Appalling company with even worst customer service. Staff (in 1 particular shop anyway)dont know what they are talking about, they’re rude, ill informed and have no customer care skills what so ever. If I could give them 0 stars I would.
Falkirk – really nice staff always helpful and always try to sell me something extra but not in a pushy way – they let u know about all the good offeres so that you dont miss out
Sittingbourne. Go to this store once a month and find the staff to be very helpful. Manager there is dedicated and this shows through the service from his staff. Being the only place in town for dvd’s they dont cash in on it and are very low on price.
Beaconsfield. Staff are always welcoming with smiles on their face. Go there every week for my rentals and theres always a great rental deal for everyone.
Great deals and friendly staff. Was in there last week back in tomorrow for my weekley visiy
The Cramlington Store gives brilliant Customer service. The staff are very knowledgeable and polite and are always recommending great movies and games
Mile End – Always helpful and give good advice. Rent and buy my games from them and always competitive and stock a great range. Much prefer to shop there where people are actually passionate about the product rather than Supermarkets who couldn’t care less.
Blockbuster heavitree exeter – Rented dvd’s sunday staff always very helpful and freindly . Looks like there head office could do with spending a little money on the store but nothing to do with the excellent service they have always given me .Staff very knowlegeable about films they stock .
Uxbridge store. Helpful & knew what they was talking about
Some Blockbuster stores are fantastic and have some lovely friendly people in, others do have room to improve. People dont realise that with a lot of their retail product they are cheaper then HMV, Game even at Xmas they were cheaper then Amazon!! Lots of movies to rent-you get 3 or 4 films for a tenner-some cinemas charge more then £10 for one adult ticket! Blockbuster does offer good value-especially in these ard times but the stores could do with modernising.
Thame Store, great service, lovely staff! They helpped ma and my son find the movie he really wanted!
Marlow Blockbuster January.
Makes a nice change to go to a shop passionate about films unlike certain supermarkets who just flog them and move onto the next. Staff were really knowledgable and able to recommend different films for me and my wife. Also got popcorn in the deal
Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Shop a bit grubby. Brentwood
Friendly, approachable and full of recommended films based on what you fancy watching, they always ask if you have seen this or that and give honest reviews on films they have seen, or ask another member of staff what they thought of it. A delight to visit and always well stocked.
Went to rent a DVD for my kids, previously I have always used a PIN for our account but was rudely told I mustn’t rent often as they changed that rule ‘ages ago’. All this after queuing for 15 minutes!!!
Newport Pagnell store: Only one staff member on, but she took the time to walk around the shop with me and talk about the films in stock. Also was honest about her view of the films, which i appreciate. There was some upselling (mainly at the till), but where isn’t there these days? The prices of products to buy was a bit high compared to other stores, but the service made it worth the visit.
Nuneaton, 16 January 2011
I went in to rent 2 films, found these within a minute but then went to pay for them. There were chidren were running around bored because their parents are probably one of about 12 people who were queuing, with only 2 members of staff on and very little room availalbe to queue in with have all manner of junk food placed either side of you. After about 5 minutes of the queue hardly moving I put my 2 films back and decided I rewatch a dvd in my collection.
CIrencester: Store is looking tired, but staff generally quite helpful and chatty and happy to help recommend films. The main issue for me is the constant upsell everywhere you go these days. I can see the popcorn in front of me and the massive sign indicating its half price. You don’t need to tell me about it…I have eyes!
As an ex member of staff I would give Blockbuster a far higher score than the 1 out of 5 displayed as we were very thoroughly taught about and shown how to portray high customer service standards. It is company policy to Greet Offer and Thank every single customer that enters the store, ensuring a satisfactory visit to the customer. There are far worse shops than Blockbuster and out of the various retailers that I have worked for I would say that Blockbuster were the best for customer service.
My local store in Shoreham has staff that don’t care about the customer. They never smile or help me choose a film and have put their prices up of late. My local independent DVD store has a passion for film & always help me find a great movie to my taste. Blockbuster also sent a debt collection company to collect a £3.99 fine from me?!!
Seem to be focusing more and more on selling stuff, rather than renting it. Despite not being able to compete with just about every other store in existence on price. I have never had to frequently wait so long at a till, despite there being only 1 or 2 people in front of me in the queue. With the growing presence of the download model, Blockbuster should be doing everything they can to make the act of actually going into a store a pleasurable and genuinely entertaining/interesting experience.
Newton Abbot branch, long queues, talk to you like you are an idiot. Take no account of different tastes and demographics when they make comments about films. For example I wanted to rent Eat Sleep Pray and the guy was really derogatory about the content and the film to the point of being offensive to me and my tastes. Go there only when kids desperate for a film.
